He said: "Marco Reus will not be back in team training in mid-August.
That would surprise me." But Dortmund have since contradicted Tuchel's claim in a statement on their official website, in which sporting director Michael Zorc and team doctor Markus Braun confirmed Reus is "on course" to return to training in the middle of August.
The injury kept him out of the Germany squad at Euro 2016, with reports in June saying he could miss four months of action.
Tuchel told journalists following Borussia Dortmund's 1-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao on Tuesday that he doesn't expect Reus to return to training within the next seven days.
